Well, it wasn't a bad recorder but the interface was a bit weird. I think there is a bit too much for recording when you want at a specific moment. I'll stick with mp3mymp3 for such. If I do need to record at a scheduled rate, then this would be useful. All in all it's ok. I still think it needs some work though and do recommend it.

This app appears to be primarily focused on scheduled recordings and is not overly intuitive for one-click recording. Also MP3 recording is not native. You must configure it to use existing MP3 decoder dll files. Too much configuration for me. I did get the software installed and to record a wav file, but a 20 second recording was 1.2 MB. Too big for my application.

Ive been searching for a sound recorder with level meters.I found "messer" recorder & was impressed with the shear amount of features it has.Ive tried a few others & really singled it down to just a few.Too many shareware sound recorders seem to be biased towards the fancy look of the interface. Messer recorder can be tweaked to suit your style of recording. The "level" meters were my main requirement because ive been having recording problems.Messer recorder has both left & right meters .. so u can see wots going on.Just a small point .. I placed another MP3 encoder dll file in the messer folder & it now has the ability to record mp3 in bit rates from 8k to 320kbts. Well done .. this is a brilliant recorder. Its a shame the project has been shelved.

I've tried several PC recorders and prefer Messer. The interface is easy to navigate and the volume indicators are a nice and helpful feature. It also has a built-in scheduler. I prefer recording to WAV files as the demands on the PC are less. Then later convert it to MP3s. No spyware or ads, just a great product. Thank you so much Messer!

I use Messer every day on an 650Mhz Win 98SE machine, and it works very well on this machine. The Author is not a native English-speaker, so there is some interesting spelling at times in the program. The sound level meter is really excellent for setting sound levels - it has a memory function and will remember peak levels, which is really handy for avoiding distortion on peaks. In my view a really good timer record program and it works well. Ross Daly
