Wot a waste of time

I have a 230Gb external hard drive and a file cannot be copied - i/o device error. "A bad sector", I thought. MediaRecover to the rescue. Twenty hours later and with no read problems I tried to copy the file again. Same problem. You cannot select a file to test, the damn thing has to wade through the entire disk.
