The creator brags that this is the best freeware HTML editor out there - and he's right! At least, if there is a better one, I have yet to find it, and I've tried over a dozen - and uninstalled all of them in dismay, disgust, or disappointment. Either the interfaces are confusing, or they add extraneous code, and are just more frustration than they're worth - even free. HTML Beauty, on the other hand, is sleek, simple, convenient - the Charmap function alone would be worth $$$ but then there are the simple wizards for doing all kinds of things that ought to be easy but aren't in most free (and plenty paid) editors. It isn't true WYSIWYG, but the convenient preview button works better than the unreliable WYSIWYG of other programs. I am a basic-level, self-taught web page maker with a lot of graphics program experience, so this might be a little beyond a just-starting beginner - but then again, maybe not. [/ravereview]

I did not try out all features of this program. Handles frames well, displaying the full page as it will appear on a browser. Looks OK and lots of features, but integration between html editor and preview is poor - as is editing between previews. For instance, if you highlight (select) something in preview, then switch to html to see the underlying code, it's not highlighted and you have to search for it (and vice-versa). If you select and copy something in preview, then move to another page that you want to paste it into, the Paste function is not available and control V doesn't work either. Needs a lot more thought to make this a good product.

I am just beginning to learn HTML and I tried a few of the other editors here on SnapFiles, but Max's is tops. Hands down! The only down side is that there is no help with the program but with my "Teach Yourself HTML Visually" book it makes building a page a snap!

I remember when it was the 2001 version! MAX is the KING as far as I'm concerned! There are a lot of good ones out there...but, for me: MAX is the baddest of the bad! (That's REAL GOOD) HA! Does it all! SUPERB!

OK, it could use a better name, but Max´s HTML Beauty really packs a punch with the features that it offers, and it´s excellent interface. Every new HTML coder should start with this app.
