Didn't read the fine print that the destination drive should be bigger (mine were identical sizes), neither did it warn me. After 3.5 hours and as many sector errors as sectors read and progress never getting past 0%, I gave up. I found the creation of the boot CD, program Interface and the fact that it recognized my destination drive as USB portable quite encouraging. As someone else mentioned, pity it had so many missing features that I was unable to evaluate it properly.

Excellent product for who wants to clone one old hard drive to a new bigger one without loosing anything in the process. Lasted only 1 hour and performed the task with no mistakes. I just had to switch the jumper on the new drive from Slave to Master and that was it. Great software!

I tried DriveImage XML before this, failed. Tried this and works great. One copy came back without errors, another with 100+ errors but still works without problems. The Free edition is slow, so run it overnight. It automatically resize your new hard drive when possible which is handy. One of my copies came back resized already, another has the C drive sandwiched in between 2 other partitions and could not be resized automatically, I used BootIt to resize late. Great freeware.

When I try a backup, I run into the same issue, get to half or almost done, then some error, quits copying. Very frustrating. I don't know if it worked well for others but it hasn't for me. I will stay with other backup utilities for now.

It worked perfectly, no errors. The free version doesn't run at max speed, which I was aware of before using it. It took 3 hours to copy a 60 GB hardrive. Excellent value for the price. If you are having problems with Windows based copy programs then try this one. It uses its own software. Just burn to CD and reboot the computer. The interface is simple and straight forward. Very novice friendly.

This restrictions place on this product were nothing short of ridiculous. It's completely limited. Being able to clone ONLY to larger disks was probably bearable for testing it (and no testing it on partitions either, its the whole disk or nothing), but they also put limitations on the transfer speed (deliberately making it much slower with the free version). Cloning a 150Gig ATA drive was taking an esimated 9 hours! It was easy enough to create the boot disk on CD and get that working, but I was not impressed. There are other versions (also free) that are less restrictive, cheaper (if you decide to buy), and faster. The one I used starts with P (cant mention names on here), it was a fully functioning trial version, and took 10 minutes. My advice to the makers of HDClone 3.2. Try making a trial version that actually demonstrates what the software can do, rather than attempt to frustrate the user.

Used this for the first time today. What a great piece of software, does what it says on the tin without hassle. A little slow in operation but it works and it's free!! added to that it's O.S independent so doesn't matter if you run Windows, OSX or Linux. What could be better??

I cloned hard disks many times with this program and every time it worked just fine. Usually you would clone a disk in to a larger one, so you need other program (Partition magic)to make the extra space on hard disk usable. Simple and yet easy to understand interface.I did not see any possibility to damage or destroy your original disk.

Let me say that I bought a second internal HD for my IBM T40 laptop 2 years ago and have been attempting to clone my current drive to it ever since. My goal is to preserve the man-weeks it takes to install all my software. FYI, both source and dest. drives were 80GB Hitachis. The dest. drive is a little larger. Well, Norton Ghost failed after encountering bad sectors. I couldn't understand why it would not simply skip them. Also, Western Digital's HD cloning utility failed. Finally, the EZ-Gig software that came from IBM when I bought the extra HD didn't work either. The cloned disk would not boot (I would only get the infamous blinking white cursor) Then I found this little gem the other day. Set it to run while I slept, next morn, the cute little interface said it "completed with errors" The errors were the bad sectors, which it skipped. The cloned disk was bootable! Yahooo! And get this, its free!

I wrote a negative review of this software at Snapfiles before and it was not published because I may have been a little harsh with expecting that the version of this software would copy to the same size or smaller drive when in fact it did not (the title page had since been revised to point out this limitation). So in all fairness, I decided to give this software another try by cloning from a smaller 250GB drive to a larger 300GB drive. It did not work this time either. The window title "Drive recognition" states "HDClone is scanning for connected drives . Please wait a little". Well, if "a little" is more than the 45 minutes I waited, no thanks. It doesn't lock up and doesn't work after rebooting/retrying. I'll try another program. It should be noted that on this same PC, the program was previously able to identify the installed hard drives enough to tell me that it would only support copying from smaller drives to a larger one.
