Slow and resource-hungry application
Google Desktop took more than 30 minutes to index my 80Gb hard drive, even longer when I set it in background indexing mode. It also slows your computer's processing speed when new files need to be indexed as well. Finally, when I uninstalled it, it corrupted my Office 2003 installation and accidentally deleted some of my documents when I choose to delete the saved index cache. My advice, backup first before uninstalling.

It just rocks!
Google on your desktop just rocks! I can find files I thought I lost or forgot about. With 400GB of HD space, it comes in real handy! And it's FAST. Looks just like the web site.

Not bad but whats the point?
Why dont you just do a simple search? you know from start menu? it only detected about 7,000 of my files, i have alot more..... i see this program pointless... now about the spyware.... there is none in google toolbar that i know of, when you download it it gives you the option for "extra features" and it sends anonymous user data to Google. i believe it may have looked like spyware because it has to update your Google page now to have it add a desktop search button when you go to google.com i would like to recommend this product but it does not suit my taste.

It eat too much space
The program is great - at least its idea. I already enjoy to search on my computer as I search on the Internet. But the only problem is that the Desktop Search is still indexing my computer - after too many hours -, and already eat over 500MB. So, if it will continue till 1Giga, I am wondering if the cost is not too much...

Spyware
Immediately following the install, during the preferences set up, this software tried to connect to pagead2.googlesyndication.com (sp?) WHY?? I rated fair for everything so that I could NOT recommend this product. I rated excellent on the cost, for obvious reasons. The interface is nice. Regardless, it runs on the loopback IP. Hijackthis picked up a bunch of unrecognized Winsock dlls after install. Ehthink Ill pass on this freeware.

Yes, but ...
I have had no problem installing Google Desktop Search (Beta), neither with my firewall (Sygate pro) neither with the anti-virus (Kaspersky) neither with spyware/pests (Ad-aware Pro, Spybot, Spyware Blaster), but ... But Google Desktop in my opinion is maybe worth it within a huge database and within extensive use of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, mainly), otherwise it's like taking your car to move a hundred yards: you'd better just walk.

Puzzled
I'm sure this is a great program but when I tried to install it, it said the program wasn't compatible with my antivirus program and my spamblocker program. When I inquired as to why it wasn't compatible with my program, I could not find a reason in their help/install page, other than to uninstall both my antivirus and spamblocker programs to enable their program to work. Since the Google search for IE is filled with spyware, I can only suspect this program is also filled with spyware. If this is untrue, then WHY must I uninstall 2 of my most important programs, just to install theirs! I believe we all need an explanation. Note: I wanted to give this program an excellent ratings review, but did not want to recommend it. Since Snapfiles does not accept these conditions, I must give it an overall zero rating until Google explains why their programs are not compatible with our most important computer programs.
