May not be good for complex archives
Filzip tends to lock up on my XP machine, and to randomly skip files in nested directories when unzipping from large archives.

Great, but
This was my default compression tool, but over the past year or so of testing it, I found that it had trouble extracting a few zip files. I tried other zip utilities and they extracted fine. Otherwise, this is a great product, but based on these observances, I have to lower my rating to a four.

Zip it up!
After using WinRar (trial version) for 30 days, I began looking for a free file compression utility. I saw IZArc, ZipGenius, and then this. I read the reviews on Filzip and thought I should download this one instead of the other utilities. I've been using FilZip for about three days and I must say that the user interface isn't all fancy and decorated, but it is easy to use. The features of Filzip reflect that of any compression utility sans the "purchase me" advertisements. FilZip is extremely easy to use and you can't go wrong with its price -- free dollars -- making it a worthy tool of any freeware lover.

Eh, it's okay but...
It lacks documentation. I tested the update feature and it can't get past my proxy. I set it up for virus scan, tested it and it returns an error in the lines that the file it extracted to temp cannot be deleted because file name was too long. Dunno folks... I think I'll just keep looking for the archiver but this one isn't for me.

Been great to me
I used to use ... for everything, but got really tired of the evaluation screen thing, so i just stopped using everything other then the compressed file thing on windows. that was good but gave me troubles now and then...filzip has been everything ... had and more, without all the extra crap reminding me to rush out and buy something. wonderful program...i will continue to use this for a very long time to come.

Better than watching the wz timer
I dont know if this program is good for backups, but it is certainly good enough for any desktop. It can split files too and it is not as complicated as WZ.

May not be able to handle large archives
I have used this program for a couple of years now, and have loved it, until the last few days when I was trying to create a REALLY LARGE archive (several gig). The prog would work and process the archive for quite a while, as if everything is fine, then, at the end, it would return an "invalid archive" error. I tried IZArc, and it worked fine. I find IZArc not quite as easy to use, but until the large archive prob is fixed in FilZip, I'll stick w/ IZArc. FilZip is still a great program if you have not need for really large archives, but I have no idea how large is too large.

Excellent zip software
This is a terrific zip program. I've yet to find a file it hasn't been able to zip or open (unlike some other freebie archive programs I've come across!). Great program, and it works as well as ..., without the cost.

Only file archiving software i use
Somehow I stumbled upon FilZip--what a great piece of software. I don't use WinZip and WinRar anymore because FilZip handles .zip, .rar, and every other file I've tried. It's fast! I love the right-click feature because in a few click I can extract all files to the desktop. I set 'do not overwrite existing files' and 'use folder names' as my default so every time I need to open something it works the way I want it, and with very little input from me.

Filzip great interest
Like most people,i need some tools to work with my pc.I demand to use them, in an intuitive way very quickly.Too difficult with Zipgenius .Izarc is located in a website often unreachable. Then i have to try another one: FilZip .I got very fine results. To day, for these reasons, it is for me the number one.

A great program and free.
I used to use winzip, but this does the job well and supports many file types; like rar, tar, zip and so on. double click on an archive and like the other programs, it will need to know where you want the files placed. You can type in where you want them placed, or use can use the built in filemanger features to point to a location. Very easy to use and the price is right - Free. A keeper ... Grab it!

Still looking
Usually I use WinRAR. It's got a lot of features, but is lacking in a couple of key areas related to extraction. I tried FilZip because I'd like to extract massive amounts of archives and have the files within placed into the same source directory without any sub-dir. This program can do that, but you have to add all archives manually going into each sub-directory. Now that might work for a dozen or so archives spread across a half-dozen of so sub-directories, but when you have thousands of archives spread across hundreds of sub-directories, it takes too long. You can't seem to drag and drop anything for extraction, only for compression. So for me, this dog don't hunt.

Puts winzip/rar/ace to shame.
Sometimes you have to wonder why anybody would buy commercial compression applications freewares like FilZip exists.

Best of the freeware bunch
Have tried a number of the freeware offerings, but have found FilZip to be the best. Supports many archive formats (yet to come across one it doesn't support), has plenty of features and is fully functional with a nice clean intuitive interface.

One of the best
This is one of the best archivers around. Together with IZArc, I find it to be easy to use, fully functional, and supports most archive types. It has nothing to envy to other commercial programs. I highly encourage people to support these great free programs. Thanks for such great free software.
