I used Cucu v3 til now, it was (a) fast but (b) did NOT use H264 format, most compact, and (c) crashed irregularly. In 02/2008 I tried the trial versions of four or five DVD2IPOD programs. CUCU v7 really is faster not just hype like so many. More stable than v3. You get a variety of resolution choices for MP4 (fastest rip) OR H264 (smallest final file) format. It rips a "watchable" resolution (which it calls "nano video" H264 30 min=80mb)at double speed (relative to real time). Be warned some others rip = real time, or longer, for H264. Easily rename the track (you don't want 100 movies called TITLE01), do batches (like all 5 episodes on a TV DVD). For dummies an auto mode picks the longest track and rips it.

After having tried the free trial version, I bought the Cucusoft DVD to iPod converter with great expectations, having read reviews of similar programs; I have been sorely disappointed. After converting a few DVDs (with great ease and result), the program stopped working. Once the "Convert" button is pushed, the program shuts down. To no avail, I have contacted their technical support. I have downloaded the most recent version (to which I was entitled as a purchaser), but it did not work either. I have read others have had the same two problems: the program stops working and the technical support is totally unresponsive. My ratings of "poor" for all categories and the one "star" are totally misleading - sure it was easy to use and the features were fine when it worked; but it does not work. I would not recommend this product.
