Works out of the box
I installed 5.2.0 on a laptop, new install of XP SP2. It was the fisrt thing I installed after using Windows Update to get the latest fixes for XP. It did take overnight to encrypt the hard disk, but as soon as that was finished, I just had to enter my userid and password and the system booted first time. As a background process it is completely un-noticeable and has not given any problems yet (1 week so far). Installed AVG and MS Office etc with problems. I give it 9/10 so far. I take off the one point for a not too clear PDF manual, though to be fair I am not a security expert. I am just happy that if my laptop is stolen, I just lose it's cash value, not face the nightmare of having sensitive client data in the wrong hands.

Glad i used this on a dummy pc
I have a dummy computer for software such as this, running XPpro, all clean, no issues all updated. It installed fine, then after getting it all set up, it killed my drive, well... left it non-bootable. Caused BSOD upon trying to get past XP screen. And no, no AV or firewall on this pc so that wasn't the issue. I immediately used Paragon to restore the drive to the state prior to to CompuSec's install using CD and all was back. I tried it again, this time booted into Windows, then CRASH, BSOD... The error was noted in the virtual memory. Hmmmmm, funny thing, the disk is fine, new, and paging file is off since I have 2 gigs of ram in it and only use for testing. Once restored, ran disk check for the sake of it, all is good. GOODBYE Compusec, you will NOT touch another pc of mine.

Problem with wireless keyboard
After installation my wireless keyboard no longer worked at the pre-boot logon/password stage. I had to hook up (and continue to use) a standard keyboard. This is a minor complaint and there have been no other problems. Fabulous value considering that it's free!

Excellent software
I just tested it (4.20 version), work very fine as described in documentation. Only fews disavantages: 1. You cannot encrypt/decrypt partition only full HDD. 2. You cannot use R/W low level software like boot manager or disk partitions. 3. As derived for 2), no multi-boot (Win+Linux) Maybe more in commercial version. (I'm not native in english)

Bad software. rude support.
First, the software did not install correctly, with the biggest problem being refusal to make a duplicate key. Knowing having only one key was unwise, and its loss would mean being locked out of my computer, I uninstalled CompuSec. That's where the major problems began. Several apps no longer worked. And although a free product, I thought it best to contact CompuSec for advice. CompuSec insisted they were in no way at fault. They were nasty and rude, and demanded $10 "ransom" to receive any advice at all. I balked, but seeing little choice other than to pay their "ransom" to quickly get my PC back, I grudgingly agreed. (If their software could cause no problems, then why did they demand money to provide solutions?) CompuSec then refused to accept my money and stated they would not have me as a customer! Needless to say, that left me on my own. Luckily, I am fairly geekish. A week later, I finally have my system back. Caveat emptor!

Response by software author
We are talking serious Security here. Who will make a duplicate key for that. I have no ideas, did you contact a correct person here, we do provide a online free support to any CompuSec users. We as a establish serious security provider will not demand a ransom to our CompuSec user.

Works quite well ...
Once you get this program to work, it does work very well. (If you are having problems installing try different download sites, or just try downloading it again) The only program I know that offers this level of functionality for FREE ! Depending on hard drive size, the hard-drive encryption process may take a while, like 3 hours for 50 GB, but it's worth the wait. Nice interface, very few minor bugs. Make sure to put the file called 'SecurityInfo' in a secure location, you will need it for changes, updates, and uninstall. (Floppy or removable disk is a good place for it)

Great stuff!!!
This is excellent stuff. The encryption is serious stuff. It is easy to use and has great security features. I use for my laptop. You can see pre-boot pass so that even if it is stolen, no can access your computer or even your hard drive. Highly recommended
