For the most part, it`s very good
I have used Cobian on and off for some time but I keep going back to Syncback. Cobian has given me some trouble over time and I feel it's "on the verge" of becoming one of the best backup utilities out there. To some, it may already be but I feel it's not as easy to use for some, the interface lacks in some areas but for the most part, it's very good. I would still recommend it but there are others I would choose first that do the job better.

Simply the best
Using it for years: reliable, great powerful features (including scheduling). Cannot lose data anymore.

Excellent
Highly tunable, affordable and stable. It offers rotation schemes, an internal scheduler and ftp operations. I use it at home to preserve my data and at the office to backup remote sites via ftp.

Not for me
This program is overcomplicated and confusing to use. Most annoyingly it places a file reference on the desktop at every boot-up.

Going downhill
I have used Cobian since version 6, and have always liked its reliability and many features (including compressed, encrypted, and FTP backups). But you can't delete files in the destination that have been deleted in the source. So when you try to do a restore, you are left with a confusing mess to deal with. It used to be (up to version 7) that there were ways around this limitation. For example, a zip compressed backup would not include deleted files. But even this has been changed in version 8. This is done on purpose by the author; he has a bug about never deleting anything, so this will not get fixed. Reluctantly, I am no longer using Cobian; SyncBackSE works well for me now.

Best free backup utility I have found
I have been using this program for over a year now and just upgraded to the Ver. 8. It does everything I needed it to do for me. I use an 2nd internal HDD as my backup location. I have it set to backup my files automatically in the middle of the night while I sleep. The interface is easy to use and the whole program is very intuitive to use, with popup help notes at nearly every step of the way. Best of all it was free, but I liked the program enough to donate via Paypal to the author. Thank you Mr. Cobian for a nice little package that does its job without bloating my memory or hard drive. Shame on all of those charging upwards of $50.00 for programs that are no better than yours!

Excellent concept, well executed
I use it to back up to an FTP server. It uses standard .zip format, so restoring is a breeze, as is transferring files (such as sending files to an accountant). Does full, incremental, and differential backups on a schedule. Has "hooks" to execute other processes both before and after the backup. Can compress and encrypt. And it's easy to use.

Simple backup solution
I tried many backup programs before I came across this excellent program. Many of the other software I tried where TRIALS and quite complex to get around. This is what makes Cobian a great bit of software. It's easy to set up a backup schedule and it's FREE.

Great backup utility
Works great for remote backups. It does not support Unicode character. if you live in china, you might want to select another one.

Absolutley awesome
I've used BackupMyPC for years and was never completely happy, especially with restoring files. I tried Cobian and now it's my main backup program. Not only is it extremely easy to use, but restores are a breeze. No more catalogs or proprietary formates to deal with. Highly recommended due to the ease of use, small footprint and wealth of features.

Works like clockwork --- lean and mean
I use Cobian Backup 6 to backup up from Win NT4 to a soho lan Linux FTP server and also to CDRW. Before that I used version 5 which had a different interface. Under NT/2000/Xp it can run as background service without interfering with the users keyboard operation of the computer even on modest hardware. Cobian Backup has given me peace of mind and saved me from data once it works. The writer Louis Cobian is also nice helpful guy who responds to posts in the excellent support forum.

Piece of mind
My most important backup of the day is my book keeping. I have set my accounting software to backup every time I exit the program, this is where Cobian Backup comes in, Cobian's Schedule timer is setup to copy the file from the back up folder from the accounting software and upload it to a secure folder on my ftp server on the internet every few hours. Set to start up when the PC is switched on I don't even have to think about it, a little piece of mind if the house burns down ! My back up file is stored safely on the net... great program .

My favorite backup program
I own Backup Plus,Ghost,Backup My PC & several others. The one I like & use is Cobian Backup. Save it to your Hard-Drive or to a CD. When you need to replace a file, unzip it & install it back to where you had it.
