A staple
I've been using this for a couple years now I find it very necessary, and it is definitely a staple in my spywaredware fighting arsenal. Integrates well w other tools, such as Lost Googles. I am very sorry to hear about the fire.

Alas, there's been a fire!
From the author's website: I am very sorry, but BHODemon is currently on hiatus, as I no longer have the time to devote to it (due to a house fire). You will not be able to download updates or upload reports, and I will no longer be answering emails. At some point, BHODemon may return. I would like to thank everyone for their support over the years - - - -

Want to speed up your browser?
I installed this and found it very effective. With Scotty "WinPatrol" and this program, well, try it. BHODemon works like the startup of WinPatrol and all you have to do is take control of the "helpers?" of the browsers by disabling them so they don't "help!"

Good but no option to not load on startup
In version 1.x, BHO Demon was a utility that you use to determine what BHOs you currently have installed. In version 2, the author choose to load it on Windows startup so it can catch any attempted installs of BHOs. Okay, great, *if* you want it to do that. I don't. I already use SpywareGuard to catch those. BHO Demon still provides me with more info but I do not want to have it constantly loaded in memory, especially since its only function is when the browser is loaded (and BHO demon doesn't load with the browser). There is no option to NOT "load at Windows startup" which I consider rude. Great product, even better in version 2, but no option to decide what YOU want to load on startup. Until the author figures out not to be rude, use msconfig to disable the load of BHO Demon on startup (and then on the next reboot tell msconfig to stop notifying you that you made the change [to disable the load of BHO Demon]).

Response by software author
All you have to do to make BHODemon not run on StartUp is simply delete its shortcut from your StartUp group. Seems pretty straightforward to me. Why does BHODemon default to rudely always starting up? Because the target BHODemon user is not a Windows expert , and doesn t understand (and doesn t want to understand) Windows concepts like shortcuts , the StartUp group, etc. So, the idea is to default to the safer mode of operation for them. An advanced user is expected to simply delete the StartUp shortcut without a lot of whining.
This is a response to the above comment from the author of BHODemon

Stopped adware that other programs wouldn't
We have had serious problems with ad/spyware, and have tried all of the removal tools, and found that this little app keeps some of the nastiest programs at bay. The interface is fairly simple, and in our experience, it does just what it's supposed to.

BHOs - Get rid of them.
This little program does its job well. Gets rid of helper objects within your browser. They get installed by other programs and etc. If you don't want them installed - Get rid of them with this little tool. Works well. krom
