Finds files, not their contents. But it's much faster than Google Desktop. Very convenient. Wildcard searches. I've used it for at least three years now, up through WinXP. Bug-free.

I have used AvaFind for years - A MUST-HAVE program!! *Better* than Google Desktop! This is one of the first program that I install after installing Windows :) I no longer need to remember the locations where I saved my files, because I can now easily locate them with AvaFind. Remembering only a few characters from the file name is enough to find it. Avafind is a bit expensive, but worth every penny. The customer service is lousy though - write to PayPal in case 'Think-Less-Do-More Services' do not reply to you.

I can't recommend AvaFind. Too bad, because it could be a great tool, but misses several absolutely critical elements. For a $40 product and good freeware alternatives available, these types of missing elements have no excuse. You can't determine this with the trial version, which I found a bit misleading, and I only found this out after purchase. You can't filter by date or by drive, has poor displayed results options; and the described "Windows Explorer" actions are not really connected to Windows Explorer. Plus, after purchasing and then contacting the company, they still haven't responded after 11 days.
