website reputation ratings WOT for Internet Explorer is a browser add-on that can warn you of potential security or privacy issues related to the website you are visiting, as well as sites that are returned in search engine results (Google, Yahoo, AOL, MSN and others). It adds a button to your browser toolbar and next to search engine results that indicates the assessed security level for the site, based on trustworthiness, vendor reliability, privacy and child safety. The assigned security level is based on ratings from other WOT users as well as a database of harmful sites, maintained by WOT.

Personally, I use WOT and have for some time. I don't get a toolbar install option using Firefox, I see IE does. Either case, I am part of the WOT community and I try to add my 2cents to help rate sites. This is an excellent tool for telling you if a site is bad or not. It will put up a warning and you do have numerous options, to block, not block, warn, etc... So it's not like it simply blocks you out. You have a choice, this simply gives you a heads up about a site. I personally have tested sites and WOT is very accurate. Of course the sites are rated on user opinions and why I felt the need to get involved. If I see a site is not rated correctly, I will add yay or nay to it. So far, I haven't had to do that, mainly they are correct. So don't believe people when they say it blocks good sites and not bad sites, that's completely and utterly false. (There may be a few mistakes here and there) as with anything but no, it's quite accurate. Likely that comes from people with bad things on their sites and don't like the use of WOT, it keeps you from going to their site in many cases. (Not hard to see where this would upset the other side). I recommend WOT to anyone. Oh, and by the way, if you don't like it, it takes 3 seconds to uninstall, not forcing anyone to keep it for sure. showShow review details

All good- I do not have any attachment in them except wanting more people to use to expand the database on web site reviews. This works great. Just a small set of symbols by any internet site I find in my search engine- telling me how trustworthy, safe, etc. the site is. If the site is rated dangerous, it will flash up a notification before you go to the site, allowing you to back out. sites are rated by people like us who use this free service. I always defer to them in these instances. I have visited some p2p sites in the past, just to see what all the fuss was about, and WOT never has given me a dangerous block. When I get one of these blocks, I usually assume I am entering a site with malware, etc ready to connect. Also, it is very nice to see the reliability of sites when I am searching for a review of some software or hardware item. no cons to this tool, and I plan to start interacting more giving my ratings to sites instead of just using others. showShow review details
