I've had the opportunity to run the newer release for a while and my prior review was rather horrid about Win 8 with good reason. It's better now. It actually (currently) is out performing Windows 7, running faster, installs software quicker, the lan sharing actually works, not kicking out my internet, etc... I still don't care for the menu. I wouldn't mind it so much EXCEPT when you go to look for a simple program you installed, it's like having everything on your desktop in icon format trying to find where the damn program went. If not for the fact it should be changeable to list format, at least, the menu wouldn't be THAT bad I guess. I still say it should give users the option, those with touch, fine, those without, gimme back my start menu or again, give some view options for pete's sake. While it's fast now, as with every Windows OS, once the updates begin rolling in, and they WILL, the system will be sluggish I'm sure. One other small factor, many programs I had would not work with 8, but many did at the same time. Currently, it's not that bad but we'll see. Still needs lots of improvement in my opinion. showShow review details
