You can choose from a variety of ripples, and control details such as wave size and perspective, and customize the pool, using selection tool to define the area. In addition to wave effects you can also add rain and the resulting ripple effects to your image. The result can be saved as Flash (.swf) file, AVI video clip, or bitmap/jpeg file. Sqirlz Water Reflections is easy to use, and the effects look very realistic.

I used this program a long time ago and it's changed considerably, albeit not sure all for the better. The good news is, there are a lot of tweaks for rain,snow,puddles, etc... and it saves as .avi, .gif and has ability to open and work with .avi. It's easy to select an area and apply the effect to that area, although the smoothing didn't work quite so well. On the flip side, it seems extremely doggy compared to what it was, save times seem to have increased for a few second gif or .avi. Waiting to see the animation on a 200x125 image took far too long and can't imagine if it was a standard image size like 800X600. The final render wasn't what I expected, even after setting higher render options. Tried to scale the image in main window to view what it would look like at original size, would not allow me to. So when you have a smaller image, you really can't preview what it looks like when blown up so large. Unless it simply wouldn't rescale for me but I'm fairly sure I tried everything. For a free program, it has a lot to offer and again, it's free. I think with some work it will improve, mainly in render times and preview hopefully. Great stuff! showShow review details

Whether you are a newbie to graphics and image manipulation or someone (like me} with pro graphics experience and growing video editing skills, with just a little time and effort, you'll pull of some stunning stuff in various formats (web to film). And it's fun. I just recently upgraded to v.2 and its features vastly improved the flexibility of this already great program. Now it includes rain, rain puddles and snow effects. The Baseline option also greatly helps get realistic reflections. If you're new to this sort of thing, you may wish get the active tutorials (Flash format) available at the site -- this even though the still Examples tutorials that come with the program are well done too. Bottom line: If you want to turn stills into mini movies using very tweakable water effects, you get professional grade for a wonderful non-price - and its a blast to use.
