SoftPerfect RAM Disk enables you to create virtual hard disks that are temporarily stored in the memory (RAM) of your computer instead of on your hard drive, thereby allowing much faster file access than with a physical hard disk. While the virtual RAM drives are mounted, they can be accessed just like any other drive from Windows Explorer. Once you unmount a RAM disk, the content is deleted and the memory is released. The use of RAM disks is primarily useful for providing faster access to temporary data such as your Windows/Temp files or other non-critical data. Alternatively, SoftPerfect RAM Disk also allows you to create persistent RAM disks that are mounted from a disk image file, which allows you to save the files (and optionally any changes you made) to your hard drive whenever you unmount the RAM disk. The program supports multiple RAM disks in different formats and the size is only limited by your available system memory. The RAM disks are automatically re-mounted after a system reboot.
