It can automatically convert the files to MP3 or OGG and offers additional configuration options to set output quality. It supports variable bitrate, emphasis, and psycho-acoustics analysis. Additional features include integration with FreeDB to retrieve track information and automatic ID3 tagging of the converted files, as well as automatic playlist (.m3u) creation.

First off, this is NOT a do-it-all feature rich program. BUT, for what it does which is RIP - I like it far better than any other ripping program I've found. I bought it when my Virtuosa failed to deal with my new external cd writer after I followed all of the meager help suggestions that were offered. This program ROCKS! It's incredibly quick and simple to use, after initially setting my preferences, all I do is click the RIP button, and an entire cd goes to my mp3 folder with artist/album folder creation, bit rate where I want it, and tracks named the way I want them. Literally, launch the program and ONE CLICK! CDDB info automatically gathered. I'm perfectly happy to use Windows' free Media Player for what it's good for, and the cd exact copy program that also came free with my pc works quite sweetly. So what more do I need? Nothing - Smart CD Ripper takes the right approach - don't try to do everything, just do one thing exceptionally well. showShow review details
