Windows Live OneCare combines anti-virus scanning with the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender in an attempt to provide an all-in-one Internet security solution. Except for the newly added anti-virus scan engine, the program adds few features that did not already comes with Windows (for free). Similar to the Windows Security Center it consolidates the components into a single control panel that display the current security status of your computer and provides access to settings, quarantine and other features. Since most of the functionality offered by OneCare already came with your copy of Windows, the newly added anti-virus scan is the only interesting improvement. However, compared to other anti-virus solutions, OneCare lacks most of the features that have become standard over the years, not to mention that is does not support browsers other than IE. If your are a die-hard Microsoft fan or you need tight system integration, you may want to give OneCare a try, all others should wait for more capable versions in the future or try something else.
