visual programming environment Scratch is a visual programming environment, that enables you to create interactive multimedia presentations, games and other applets that run in a web browser (Java). Scratch does not require you to learn any scripting language, you can drag and drop actions, conditions, sounds and other elements into the scrip window and arrange them like building blocks. You can share your finished project via the Scratch web site and also embed it in your own HTML code (with some efforts).

It's interface is of course much easier to move commands over than to code and it has a built in editor to create or edit sprites plus you can import sprites. I found it very easy to use although it still took some reading of course. Fun for both adults and kids without a doubt. Once someone gets the hang of this, it should be very easy to get sprites doing all sorts of things. I have a sprite walking and turning and talking and I have only used it for a short amount of time. I do feel this app will only get better with time if they keep up with it. showShow review details
