Virtual Globe and World Atlas Marble is a Virtual Globe and World Atlas that you can use to learn more about Earth. It starts out with a virtual globe from where you can pan and zoom around to look up places and roads. You can choose from different map style, including Atlas, Satellite (terrain), Open Street Map, Earth at Night and others. You can type in an address to find the location on the map, get directions to/from selected points, measure distances between locations, view Wikipedia article for selected cities/countries, set bookmarks, export routes to KML format, save map views as JPG images, and more. Marble is in many ways similar to Google Earth but lacks the detailed satellite maps, street views and some other fancy features. It makes up for this with fast loading maps (that can be downloaded for offline viewing) and an Open Source infrastructure that does not require OpenGL. Note: Unlike Google Earth, which lets you simply zoom down to street level, Marble uses multiple map packs. The default (Atlas) only allows you zoom down to city level - in order to view street level maps, you'll need to switch the Map View to OpenStreetMap. Copyright Snapfiles.com

Great for what it's intended for 5 stars by gimpguy Mar 05, 2013 (Read all my 1158 reviews)
No, it's not Google Earth, which has been established already. It's great for geographical purposes, not so heavy like GE and if you want to know areas of the world, hey, this is extremely handy. Portable, can't go wrong. It's very easy to use and makes a great carry around with it's small footprint compared to GE. Definitely a 5. showShow review details
Virtual world map globe 5 stars by Stepan238 Feb 05, 2013 (Read all my 7 reviews)
I spent literally YEARS hunting Web for a decent free Virtual Atlas, but could find nothing except here and there a map of some area/region to copy-and-paste; ended up with confusing morass of maps all over Desktop! Gave up in end, until one day "SnapFiles" Website was discovered by accident whilst trawling Web. SnapFiles is the Geek version of Aladdin finding the Magic Cave with all the Neat Goodies in it like lamp with Genie! Anyway, at long last here was best Virtual World Map that is possible: cannot rave enough about this fabulously awesome program: is literal Virtual World Map Globe that you can spin in any direction, and also zoom in and out from in any location to a massive degree; my PC has got very poor graphics system/poor resolution, but this Virtual Globe looks visually excellent on even my PC, and would love to see what this Globe looks like on a better Computer. 10 out of 10 for Sheer Excellence. Marble Brilliant Stuff and Thank You and SnapFiles for making this superb program freely available. showShow review details
