IE9 is definitely another step in the right direction and a much smoother browser than before. The only issues I found with it was IE working with Java, the two don't seem to get along very well currently. It really liked to drag a bit when playing Java based games, even hang. I went back to IE8 to see if it was the same but IE8 was fine with Java games and such. Back I go to IE9, same issue, plus when scrolling, it's still not quite smooth as it should be.
That being the case, I will still keep IE9 over 8, mainly for security update purposes. Even though I don't use IE much, I will always keep the latest version and unlike prior versions, I can use IE in somewhat confidence now. IE6 drove many away and some are still scared to go back to IE but it's a whole new browser now.
There are many things I really in love with IE9 such as clean browser UI, Pinned sites, Jump lists, ... Now I can block ads by utilizing Tracking Protection (you can try by adding "Fanboy - Adblock Tracking Protection List" from IE add-ons site), can manage downloads with the built-in Download Manager, can use a web site as an application with Pinned sites (you need Windows 7 for this), ... Also, with Microsoft Bing Bar and Quero toolbar, I can do anything on the web very fast and conveniently.
Installation was quick with no problems. As promised by the developers opening web pages are faster than IE8. There are new features to work with such as Tracking Protection, you can download from sites offers tracking protection list and than you are able to allow to block sites to your preference. Another feature is accelerators which enhances the function of IE9. There are numerous other features that you can access which really makes this browser a breath of fresh air.Microsoft has made strides and improvements, its a keeper for sure.
