file manager Handy File Tool is a dual pane file manager that allows you to open two folders or drives simultaneously. It offers a file basket that you can use to collect files from different locations into a basket drive, and then process batch process them. The program supports common file operations (copy, move, delete) and also includes a file renaming tool and a text search/replace tool. While the basket feature is handy, the rest of the features are below average. Handy File Tool also nags you with a splash screen that advertises other products by the author every time you close the program.

Handy File Tool is a one-trick pony: Only thing it's got going for it is the "file basket". Beyond that, it's lacking a LOT of features other freeware file managers offer. The "file basket" is an interesting idea. Seems like it'd be good for a file you know you're going to move, but not yet certain ~where~. Overall, however, it's a rather simplistic dual-pane file manager without much to recommend it (other than dual-panes and the "file basket"). Upon exiting the application, there's an ad window for this developer's other products. No big deal. Not especially obtrusive or annoying. Handy File Tool is a pretty good little free file manager. The only annoyance comes from an ad that pops up when you shut down the app, but it's not bad, they are just trying to get you interested in the shareware products. Overall it works well and is portable. Very useful to carry around with you to use on USB flash drives. showShow review details
