While so many others claim to work well with icons, this is finally something users can handle easily and FREE?? Yep! Grab a graphic, .png or whatever you prefer, open it within GIEP, create an icon in numerous formats up to 256 Vista and of course Win 7. You can edit or create right within the program and it has a decent set of features like fill, pencil, gradient fill, etc.. and a nice set of filters like bevel, glow, etc... but even those can be common, what I found was when touching up, it has great control around edges or when touching up or creating by hand which is NOT something you find in every icon editor. I just tried another that I wasn't pleased with and ran across this and now instead of me having to compile my icons, this will do it nicely, keeping the quality all the way and just as easy as using everything else.
