Simple in what it does but does it just fine 4 stars by oteotd (Read all my 29 reviews)
This is a nice portable program. It is simple in what it does but does it just fine. I downloaded this puppy so I could see if it was possible to extract the text from error and other notification dialog boxes that windows pops up sometimes. This tool did just that. Now if I am working on a computer and have an issue I need to google or research some other way I can run this tool and then copy the results to the clipboard, then to notepad or what ever. No more trying retype the information from the dialog box. I rated the interface very good so I could give this a 4 star rating. I would have given it a 5 except for one little issue. When I first tried to use it, it took me longer than expected (not long though). Where the issue came in was the way they have the instructions written (no help file)in the program window. For some reason I did not relate to the less than characters as an arrow pointing to the icon to the left. The way the words are written I was under the impression you clicked in the dialog box and drug the pointer to the window you needed to copy. After a couple tries I figured out the less than characters are actually pointing to the logo button to the left. Left click that and hold. Drag to where you want. You can see the text in the box change as you pass areas. If they would rewrite that bit of guidance I would give this 5 stars. The reason I want that re-written is for people that would just download and give up when it don't work on first try. showShow review details
Another wonderfully useful tool! 5 stars by busybusy (Read all my 81 reviews)
It is amazing what an 18K program can do. This tools does come in quite handy for errors message and other windows you need to copy the text from where your basic Ctrl-C just does work. It is simple and easy to use. Thanks again! showShow review details
Works well 4 stars by gimpguy (Read all my 655 reviews)
GWT is very easy to use, simply click on the "?" and then on the window you want to read from, doesn't get much easier for sure. It did fail to read the task manager window, well it did read the list but not the tabs or title, however, took on most anything I threw at it. The reading interface could be a lot better, I don't really like the way the text is displayed after it is read. There are many others that capture text from error windows and such and I can't say they are better or worse than this except for sysexporter which gives you much more but and GWT's interface isn't different than some with the crosshair drag over window but either way, it's decent, free, works well. There are a lot of paid for that will do the same but really, unless you use this constantly it wouldn't be worth buying anything like this and GWT adds a nice freebie alternative. showShow review details
