record video games Fraps allows you to record the video game you are playing along with the game sound and an optional external sound input (e.g. microphone). You can also take screenshots and benchmark your FPS and frame times, which are displayed in a corner of the display. The video or still captures can be conveniently started and stopped via keyboard hotkeys at any time and there are no dialogs to interfere with your gaming experience. Fraps is able to capture good quality video, however, they are saved in uncompressed AVI format and can quickly fill up your hard drive. Unfortunately the program does not include any tools or options to convert your captures to a more efficient format suitable for online sharing.

Trial Limitations: Watermark; limited to 30 sec captures; screenshots limited to BMP format

I have found Fraps to be one o the best programs to record. Yes, with a very few games Fraps does not seem to work at its best, however, with most it does fine. At the end of the review above it said that Fraps records into .avi files that are to large to upload to YouTube. As a YouTube myself I do not find this a problem. Just let it sit overnight uploading. Also the best free screen records to .avi too... Fraps is best for recording. No one can argue with that. showShow review details
