encrypt files and folders Crunch is a personal 128 bit encryption tool that can encrypt (crunch) selected files or entire folders. Folders can be packaged into compressed files, or encrypted in a new sub-folder. Either option allows you to specify a key (password) that must be entered in order to decrunch (decrypt) the files. The program allows you to select files from its interface, and also integrates into the Windows Explorer right click menu.

Has features, but bad interface and design 2 stars by MindSpace
Not very easy to use. Small file size and does not need to be installed, which is nice, but to get right-click context sensitive help working, you need to run the app and click 'Register' - which is not very clear. Not very easy to use regarding packages vs folders etc. Takes a confident user. Has some problems, like you can right-click on any folder (even standard windows folders) and click 'DeCrunch', which creates a rubbish output. If you 'Crunch' a folder, then 'DeCrunch' only one file in the folder, it looses its filename. It cannot handle some long filenames, so it took my test folder of 'Copy of Button Samples' and make a package called COPYOF~1.pkx It has no help - just a flickery about window. While it does what it says it does, it feels more like a homebaked experiment - an experiment I can only recommend to experts who like "warts and all". showShow review details
Easy to use encryption 4 stars by Prajinator
If you want an easy to use freeware encryption tool then crunch is the way to go. It has a wizard interface and makes encrypting files as easy as it is going to get. This is definitely meant to be a simple-to-use program, so if you are after a lot of advanced features then you might want to look elsewhere. showShow review details
