system cleanup tool AppCleaner is a system cleaning tool that can help you clean your computer of Internet traces (cache, cookies, history typed URLs etc.), temporary files, computer usage tracks and many other "junk" files. In addition to the predefined cleaning options, you can also define custom file and folder locations that should be cleaned during the process (with an option to limit cleaning to older files). Other features include a built-in Startup Manager, Uninstall Helper, secure deletion, files/folders to ignore and optional wiping of free disk space. Although well featured, AppCleaner does not clean as thorough as other apps, it seems to consistently have issues with files that it claims are in use although other cleaner apps were able to delete them without problems. Are they serious? 1 stars by gimpguy Jul 28, 2011 (Read all my 1072 reviews)
Ok, with risk of getting pummeled by someone who may have had luck with this software, onward... Install went fine, fairly easy to understand and use application, looked promising. Until I used it. It came up with errors galore, could not clean anything, not even IE cookies, saying they were in use. Which I know they weren't. Then again, it said most everything was unable to be cleaned and had the yellow shield next to it. With risk of shutting everything off, which I did, it STILL said most everything was in use. A bit peeved at this point, I did a restart, after everything loaded, I got the same result. Even a bit more perturbed at this point, I loaded it on my Vista laptop, maybe it was my 64 OS giving grief. Nope, same results, did nothing, cleaned nothing. False bravado. I know because I shortly after ran IE and checked, everything was still there. Oh wait! That's right, it did delete (ALL MY FIREFOX BOOKMARKS). So yeah, it did something. I never even had that option checked. I did solve the issue however, I used Ccleaner instead. That aside, I went to their little link for a 10 coupon for giving my feedback (albeit not sure they would like what I had to say) but it is merely to buy more of their products. This did absolutely nothing, cleaned nothing, gave me nothing, except a headache. I would be more than surprised to see if anyone else gets this to work. showShow review details
