Secure File Deletion

Eraser is a secure file deletion tool that allows you to completely remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with sophisticated patterns (Gutman, USDoD and others). Freeraser is a digital file shredder that enables you to permanently delete sensitive data with multiple overwrites of random data. It offers a simple overwrite (fast) as well as to DoD 5220.22M (slower) and Gutmann (very slow) compatible deletion methods. The program is very easy to use, it adds a new waste bin icon to your desktop, and any file or folder that you drag onto the bin is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Hard Drive Eraser enables you to securely delete the content of your hard drive or selected partitions. It supports the DoD 5220-22.M, US Army and Guttman algorithms to assure permanent data removal beyond recovery. The program cannot erase the content of your current operating system partition. Disk Redactor enables you to wipe the free space on a selected hard drive, thereby overwriting any previously deleted files, making recovery difficult or impossible. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect. The program is perfect for cleaning a computer before giving it away or selling it. You will download an ISO file, that needs to be burned to a CD.

PC Inspector e-maxx is a professional data deletion program, that helps you to permanently delete the content of your entire hard drive. This is useful if you intend to recycle or sell your PC and want to make sure that none of your sensitive data is left on the disk and could be potentially recovered by the next user. The program runs from a floppy disk, upon running, it will prompt you to insert a Floppy and then create a bootable disk that you can use to boot your PC and wipe your drive.
