RSS Feed Readers

YeahReader is feed reader for RSS, RDF and Atom formats, as well as podcasts. It provides basic functionalities that allow you to check for feed updates, mark feeds for review, categorize feeds into folders and more. The program also includes a small blog client that allows you to post articles from a feed directly to your personal blog (LiveJournal, Blogger, WordPress and Del.icio.us supported). Other features include proxy support, OPML import/export, HTTP authentication, and an integrated browser display.

RSS Feeds Toolbar for IE is an add-on for Internet Explorer, that integrates RSS feed headlines into the IE toolbar. The headlines are continuously updated at a configurable time interval and a button in the toolbar launches the full article associated with the selected feed item. The latest headline is always on top and displayed directly in the toolbar, while previous headlines can be selected from the drop menu. Not a full-featured RSS reader, but a very convenient way to keep track of several news sources from within your browser.

Juice (formerly iPodder) allows you to automatically download and organize audio content from various online sources. The Podcast system works similar to RSS feeds, only that it downloads audio files (mp3), that are provided by various Internet radio stations and other channels. Juice includes a content archive that you can choose from to get started, and you can also add your custom URLs to download your favorite shows. The program can automatically check for new content and download it for you without further interaction. It integrates with iTunes and downloaded shows are automatically added to your iTunes library.

Ziepod is a podcast receiver and player, that allows you to organize your favorite podcasts, monitor them for changes, download the latest episodes and export them to your MP3 player. It integrates a podcast search feature (powered by Feedzie) that lets you find new podcasts and add them to your repertoire. Ziepod offers a modern interface with different layout styles and integrated playback to listen to your podcasts. Perseptio FeedAgent (formerly FreeAgent) is a RSS feed reader that can keep you up to date with information from your favorite web feeds. You can add your feeds manually, import them from OPML files, or select feeds from the built-in directory. The program includes an intelligent scoring feature that can automatically recommend new news items to you based on your ratings of previous items. Perseptio FeedAgent supports RSS Atom and RDF feeds.

CITA RSS Aggregator is a RSS feed reader, that you can use to keep track of your favorite RSS and Atom feeds. It also includes integrated weather updates for selected cities from the WeatherChannel, as well an RSS Builder to create RSS feeds. The main interface is rather plain and simple, but it comes with some decent features under the hood, that include keyword alerts, support for password login, per-channel settings, proxy support, support for RSS enclosures (Podcasts) and a tool to remove persistent adverts from RSS feeds.

The interface can be customized in font and color as well as with built-in or custom CSS styles, and articles can be launched in the integrated browser display or an external browser. RssReader allows you to customize many settings on a per-feed level, including update times, archiving and browser behavior. It also provides a filtering option and keyword search, but does not support automatic keyword alerts. If you are looking for an easy-to-use feed reader with a good set of features, give it a try.

FeedExplorer is a RSS feed reader with an attractive and easy-to-use interface that allows you to organize your feeds into categories, and select from different display styles for your headlines. It comes with a built-in browser, and an integrated search function, as well as an option to watch for specific keywords. Additional features include OPML import/export and system tray notifications.

Taskable RSS and OPML Browser is a small RSS feed reader that works from the system tray. It lacks all the bells and whistles or regular RSS readers, and is limited to headline displays. You can add your own feeds, but other than that there are no options available. Useful for those that just want a (very) basic feed reader.

Blog Navigator is a RSS reader that enables you to keep track of news, blogs and other web feed items. It supports any number of RSS feeds and can also be set to download and archive different feeds for off-line reading. BlogExpress is light on the features and provides mostly basic functionality, however it comes with an attractive interface and renders the subscription out put in a nice and clean layout, including summary page and integrated browser tabs. Doppler provides a modern interface that indicates the status of your feed subscriptions and can automatically check them and download new content on a regular schedule. Additional features include custom ID3 tagging, keyword filters, disk space management, proxy support, tray notification and more.

Awasu is a feature-rich RSS newsfeed reader, that offers various notification options and can also take action like sending emails or SMS messages when certain channels are updated. It provides a multi-tabbed interface that lets you organize your feeds and switch between them quickly. The integrated browser interface allows you to view web sites from within the program. Awasu can be customized in several ways, you can change interface colors, set default notification options, create your own categories, add items to a read-me list and more. The program supports plug-ins to further extend the functionality. Awasu is definitely one of the more advanced clients out there.

FeedExpress is a very simple an easy to use RSS/RDF client that caches and indexes all the feeds for each RSS subscription, making it easy to overview all your feeds. You can set the refresh time for each feed or all of them and also customize the CSS style appearance.
