You can accumulate statistics for a year and keep separate statistics for every page or file - daily hits for two last months, monthly hits for a year, referring sites for particular page or file. The program generates the reports on-the-fly, which reduces initial processing time, especially for smaller log files, however we found it to be rather slow with a larger log file (200mb).
