System Information

PerformanceTest enables you to benchmark your computer and compare it to a variety of baseline systems that are included in the database. You can select one or more computer model to compare your machine to, and let the program run a series of test, including CPU, RAM, Disk, 3D, 2D Graphics, Network bandwidth, CD and DVD performance. The results are presented in form of bar graphs that show the results for your computer and the baseline model side by side. You can export the results to text formats, or save them as image or HTML file. The baseline database contains about 50 computer models to choose from, mostly Intel based system and a few AMD machines - registered uses can download additional baselines from the web.

HWiNFO32 is a hardware information and diagnostic tool, that recognizes and displays detailed information about all your hardware components. It organizes the components in a tree view, and provides easy to read reports for each item. In addition, it can display hardware sensor information (if supported), run a benchmark test and generate a system profile.

ASTRA32 provides detailed information on various system components, including CPU, motherboard, hard disks, CD-ROM, memory modules, BIOS, PCI/AGP and ISA/PnP devices, video cards and so on. It also shows which features are available or supported by your motherboard, hard drives, DVD etc. and it includes a drivers troubleshooter and a harddrive health status checker. The interface provides an organized overview of all the available information, and you can optionally create different types of text reports from the results.

DM Thumbs enables you to view and analyze the contents of thumbs.db and Vista thumbcache files, which contain thumbnail images of pictures that have been viewed on the computer, even if they have been deleted. The program supports viewing the content of thumbs.db, ehthumbs.db, thumbcache_idx.db, thumbcache_32.db, thumbcache_96.db, thumbcache_256.db and thumbcache_1024.db. You can export and save thumbnails as bitmaps, zoom and rotate the thumbnails and also create reports and run full-screen presentations of the image cache content.

TaskInfo is combination of Task Manager and system information gadget. It displays real time info about all running processes and threads including VxD threads. In addition, it shows CPU usage for each process, scheduling, path, open files, memory, DLLs, command line, environment variables and more. It provides the option to run and force termination of processes as well as Reboot, Restart, Shutdown System. System wide info includes CPU, Memory and Cache usage and data rates for Disk, Network, DialUp IO, VPN IO, IP Address and more. The program can also display an animated tray icon that includes a real-time CPU display.

Advanced Task Manager allows you to view all running processes on your computer, along with an assessment that indicates if the process has characteristics that are usually found with malicious programs. This indicator is not conclusive and relies on the expertise of the user to determine whether the process should be terminated or removed. It provides you with a detailed report that shows what the rating is based on (e.g. not certified, acts as a server, no file description etc.). If you decide to remove a process, you can either terminate it, uninstall it or move it into a quarantine. In addition to running processes, Advanced Task Manager also displays a list of all startup programs, active Internet connections and lets you search for DLLs and processes by keyword. While Advanced Task Manager can be quite useful for tech savvy users, it should not be considered by novice computer users.

Mediaware Task Manager combines a Process Explorer, Startup Manager and a Launcher to quickly access frequently used programs. The Process Explorer is similar to the Windows Task Manager, but provides more detailed information and integrates an Internet search option that can retrieve additional information on a program or launch a web search. You can also permanently block unwanted programs, terminate a running process and be alerted when new programs are added to the Windows Startup.
