WebWatchBot
WebWatchBot is a monitoring and analysis software for web sites and IP devices including Ping, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, POP3, FTP, Port, and DNS checks. It provides in-depth monitoring and alerting functionality as well as tools to analyze and visualize historical data with real-time charting and graphs. EventMeister
EventMeister enables to to Windows Event Logs and provides features to be notified if events are logged that match your criteria. The program provides a log viewer that allows you to easily view data from all monitored eventlogs, using an easy to read format. In addition, it offers powerful filters to retrieve only the information in which you are interested and merge data from multiple logs for easier timeline analysis. You can filter, sort and reorganize columns to assist with detailed analysis and data presentation, and create multiple views of the same data. Additional features include export to CSV, HTML, XML and RSS, as well as email notifications, audio alerts and more. Using the email notification feature, you can be quickly notified if any computer is experiencing technical problems, failures or other problems. ServiceKeeper
ServiceKeeper keeps your mission critical server applications running at all times, and can help prevent server crashes, detect service failures and can recover them quickly without human intervention. The program can also stop services (e.g at night during backups), restricts server access at specific times and restart services at predefined times. If a service fails, ServiceKeeper can also send an additional notification via email, pager, SMS and several other options. You can monitor services throughout your domain and it supports remote & local administration. ServiceKeeper integrates with Microsoft Management Console (MMC).
HPS WinTail
HPS WinTail is aWindows port of the Unix tail utility, that allows you to monitor text files for new lines beeing added. Just like the Unix tail, HPS WinTail continually displays new lines as they are appended to the file - for example, a log file or a trace output file. In addition, WinTail offers highlighting filters, include filters, exclude filters, and other features that allow you to customize the output to your prefence. A very useful utility for developers and sysadmins.
Hard Disk Sentinel Professional
Hard Disk Sentinel Professional automatically monitors your hard disk status, health and performance, including temperature and S.M.A.R.T. values for each of your hard drives. Using this data it can predict possible disk failures and alert you of these conditions before they can become a serious problem. You can configure email and sound alerts as well as automatic system shutdown when certain criteria are met. The program can even perform automatic file backups, copying your important data to a different drive if a problem is found. In addition to monitoring and alerting, the program also keeps an eye on your disk performance with real-time disk usage and transfer speed graphs. Other features include daily status reports, disk space monitoring, integrated backup with CD/DVD burning, run as service option and more. LogMeister is a universal log reader with customizable monitoring and notification features. It allows you to monitor text logs, Windows EventLogs (local and remote), Windows Firewall logs, as well as RSS Feeds and web site changes. You can apply multiple filters to limit logging to specific entries, set alerts to be notified by popup or email message and more. The interface maintains all tracked logs in an easy-to read display, and further allows you to export selected logs to formatted HTML reports, CSV or XML. The program can harvests log data from computers across your network without the need for additional installations (access privileges required). AnVir Task Manager Pro
AnVir Task Manager Pro is an advanced process and startup manager that enables you to monitor and manage processes, services, internet connections, DLLs, drivers, locked files. It automatically analyzes your startup programs and generates a security risk assessment that can help you identify spyware, malware or other potential threats. When new startup items are added, the program will inform you and allow you to block the new entry. Other features include the ability to kill, restart or block processes, automatic changing of process priority, performance monitoring, integrated virus checking and more.
StartWatch
StartWatch enables you to monitor applications on a 24x7 basis and automatically take action if a program hangs, uses excess memory or CPU resources, or if a certain TCP/IP port becomes available. It can automatically start a list of applications in a coordinated manner, monitor them for potential problems and act according to your rules if a program crashes or uses excessive resources. The program can be either started automatically (when StartWatch starts), based on other programs status or based on TCP/IP port availability.
WhatChanged
WhatChanged is a powerful tool for detecting, managing and recovering from changes to the file, registry and system configuration. The program takes and stores snapshots with detailed information about the file system, registry and system configuration and allows you to view a comparison between two snapshots or a snapshot and your current configuration. Snapshots can be scheduled to be automatically taken at off-peak times or taken on command. The program allows you to restore your system registry to a previous known good state with one click. WhatChanged also monitors File Information, System Information, Drive Information and Directory Information
Watchdog - O - Matic
Watchdog-O-Matic checks whether selected applications are running correctly and will automatically restart them if they crash. In addition, it can log the error and send an email notification. The program can also detect hanging application, restart them if the are not responding for X minutes, or restart them periodically to resolve memory leak issues. Watchdog - O - Matic works with any program and is useful to monitor and restart and monitor mission critical applications without user intervention. It also integrates into the Windows explorer right click menu.
LetUknow
LetUknow allows you to check file, folder and UNC share condition, and perform and action if conditions are met. You can monitor the size of files and/or folders, make sure that specified UNC resources are available, and also monitor for low disk space conditions. If any of the criteria is met, you )or another user) can be notified via email, Net Send and/or sound. In addition to file and folder conditions, LetUknow can also ping a remote server to check for availability.
Service Reanimator
Service Reanimator allows you to monitor local or remote services and automatically take action a service stops. It can restart the service and optionally also restart other services in addition to the one that failed. The program is smart enough to consider the ping status of the machine, allowing you to prevent false alerts due to a network outage. If the service cannot be restarted after a configurable number of retries, it can send an email message or notify via NetSend. The program also includes a graphical status monitor that allows you to get a quick overview for the monitored services. Service Reanimator runs as NT service.
Shorty Professional
Shorty Professional is an extended process and task manager that provides detailed information about currently running processes and windows. In addition, to the standard Task Manager functionality, it provides options to freeze any process and terminate threads, detach processes to monitor them individually. You can also log selected processes to file, or create a global (long term) log of all running processes, which includes graphical statistics for each process. In addition, the program lets you minimize any application to the tray, create shortcuts, run programs prior to system shutdown and more.
SMART Disk Monitor
SMART Disk Monitor enables you to monitor local and networked disks and receive email alerts when the disk space usage reaches a certain threshold. It can monitor shares share and display usage by directory or number of files. You can also generate graphical statistics in form of standard pie or graph charts, and export reports to .csv format or send them via email on a regular schedule. Overall a basic monitoring solution that is limited to email alerts and few S.M.A.R.T details, other than disk failure. It will alert you when your disk reaches capacity, but not if it is overheating.
Performance Monitoring Protocol
Performance Monitoring Protocol (PMP) is a tool that allows remote server performance monitoring for multiple NT/2K servers. It allows to monitor real time CPU, memory usage status and can send an email alert message in case of a specified server status (e.g low memory). The program includes the PMP Agent, which installs on the server, as well as PMP Admin, which is the standalone administration client to monitor the server. Unfortunately, the PMP agent cannot run as an NT service, which limits it`s usability. While the Agent can only run on Win2K/NT/XP, the admin tool can run on Win95/98/ME as well. Price includes license to monitor a single server.
SensorsView
SensorsView is a small utility, that monitors the temperature of your CPU, motherboard and hard disks, as well as voltages and fan speeds (as supported by your motherboard). It can alert you if the values reach a critical level, and also provides a complete overview of the measurements.
MyOdd
MyOdd is a task manager that allows you to take control of the desktop and processes currently running on your system. It looks similar to the standard task manager, but offers additional features, including an option to display hidden windows and set groups of applications that can be hidden with a hotkey.
EventTracker for Windows
EventTracker provides a centralized, scalable, enterprise class solution for real-time event log management, analysis and reporting for Windows NT/2000/XP. It consists of three components, the EventTracker Agent, Manager and Viewer. EventTracker Agent is a configurable, client component which operates as a service on NT/2000/MSCS machines and forwards system events to EventTracker Manager. EventTracker Manager receives and monitors events forwarded by the EventTracker Agent. It logs them into a MS Access engine. EventTracker Viewer is a Java-based GUI which can be accessed from a web browser anywhere from the Internet/Intranet. EventTracker provides configurable alerts, filters, performance monitoring and more. It can also monitor UNIX syslog events.
CheckOutXP
CheckOutXP is a simple performance monitor that runs in the system tray and alerts you of conditions that can cause your computer to slow down. It monitors memory, CPU, disk and network conditions and changes the tray icon color when they reach a critical value. An very basic application, aimed at novice users, with a rather high price tag.
