PC Access Control

1st Security Agent enables you to set a wide range of access restrictions for your computer. You can limit access to the Control Panel, Start Menu, Taskbar and many other areas, and also prevent registry editing, system changes, hide configuration options, drives and more. More than 500 tweaks are organized into categories, and you can simply check the ones that you want to apply. SiteKiosk lets you turn any computer into a secure, multi-lingual Internet access terminal that allows the user to access the Internet, but not the underlying operating system and files. It works with normal display as well as Touchscreens, and does not require the use of a keyboard, as the user can use a virtual on-screen keyboard to enter text. The program offers a step-by-step wizard that allows you to customize the protection levels to your needs. This includes browser settings, web site restrictions, file access, web cam usage and much more. Folder Lock is an easy to use tool to create a password protected folder, that you can use to store all your sensitive files and documents. The folder is completely hidden while it is locked, and the files and folders contained in the Locker are inaccessible from Windows Explorer or even DOS mode. The program is very easy to use, it offers a simplistic interface that lets you unlock/lock and open the protected folder, and then simply drag new files into the Locker. Folder Lock offers 3 different protection methods (lock, scramble and 256-bit Blowfish encryption). You don`t have to keep Folder Lock running all the time in order to keep your files protected, just launch it when you need to gain access to your protected area or want to add new files. The program is completely self-contained and can also be used to protect removable drives (e.g USB drives) and transfer data securely from one location to another without the need to install any software. Advanced Parental Control enables parents to control, restrict and monitor their children`s PC usage. You can set up scheduled times during which the child is allowed to use the computer or the Internet, and automatically log off the account if the time is used up. Are your children spending too much time chatting? Are employers chatting and getting off task in the office? ChatBlocker is a parental control application for observing and restricting chat conversations. It enables you to easily setup time slots in which you wish to allow chat conversations - and when you do not want to allow them. In addition, you can optionally choose to log all or selected chats that take place during these allowed times. Supported chat applications include AIM/AOL, MSN Messenger, ICQ, Yahoo, mIRC, Trillian, and DeadAIM. The program can be run in stealth mode and also periodically email logs to a specified email address for remote observation of chat activity.

DeviceLock gives network administrators control over which users can access what removable devices (floppies, Magneto-Optical disks, CD-ROMs, ZIPs, etc.) on a local computer. Once DeviceLock is installed, administrators can control access to floppies, CD-ROMs, WiFi (802.11) and Bluetooth adapters or any other device, depending on the time of day and day of the week. DeviceLock Me enhances access control for Windows System Administrators and helps control removable disk usage. It can protect network and local computers against viruses, Trojans and other malicious programs often injected from removable disks. Network administrators can also use DeviceLock to flush a storage device s buffers. Remote control is also available.

WinLock allows you to control access to your computer, documents and programs. You can control how long others can use your computer, disable Windows hot keys (such as Alt-Ctrl-Del, Alt-Tab, Ctrl-Esc, etc.), lock the desktop, customize the Start menu, hide the Start button and more. You can also disable Windows by name (wildcards supported), access to folders, and selected programs. To disable all protection and use the computer unrestricted, the correct password must be entered.

iProtectYou is a Internet Filtering/Parental Control package that provides parents with control over Internet usage. It allows to block e-mails, chat sessions and instant messages that contain inappropriate words, stop annoying ads, and/or restrict internet time to a pre-determined schedule. You have full control over which web sites can be accessed and which programs can have Internet access. Options include to set levels of sensitivity, detailed log files of web and application activity, time-sensitive settings and more. You can specify separate patterns, keywords or blocks for web sites, newsgroups and advertising and edit the list of inappropriate words. The program comes provided with a large built-in list of pre-screened, undesirable sites, and keywords.

PC TimeWatch is a PC access control software for parents, that want to restrict access to specific programs or the entire computer. You can configure restrictions on a per-user basis, and create custom rules for each user that define which programs are restricted. You can define daily or weekly rules, for example restrict selected games to be run after 5 PM, while allowing them all day long on weekends, or set a usage limit of X hours per day/week and so on. PC TimeWatch can also restrict access to the computer in the same way, allowing you to set times at which the computer can be used. The program uses a service and on a set of drivers, so it will be running at all times, and includes several measures to prevent tampering.

Access Boss allows you to restrict computer access for specified users. You can limit access by day of the week and time of day, and/or set a maximum work time limit per user. If the user attempts to logon during restricted times, he/she will receive a notice dialog instead. If a maximum work limit has been reached, the user can be logged off or the computer shut down - both with an optional grace period. Additional features include statistics, network support and more.

Hide Folders XP allows you to select up to 64 folders of your choice to hide and protect with a password. The selected folders will become invisible, and are impossible to find, or remove without the proper password. This allows you to leave your computer unattended without having to worry that someone will access your private data. In addition, the program clears Recent Documents and Recycle Bin items belonging to hidden folders and removes itself from the list of installed program, it works even if a computer has been started in safe mode.

RESTrick enables you to set a variety of Windows restrictions that prevent access to system options, right-click menus commands, security settings and many other Windows options. In addition, you can hide drives and desktop icons, edit boot options, prevent file sharing and more. Most of the restriction can be set on a per-user basis, allowing you to create different profiles for each Windows user account.

FileGhost enables you to restrict access to your files and folders, and even entire drives. You can choose from different protection methods and either block access to selected folders or files, or define specific limitations that prevent users from changing or deleting the protected files. The program includes options to securely lock, hide, deny file reading, deny file writing, prevent deleting, copying, moving, renaming and replacing, and prevent file attributes or file timestamp changes. The interface is easy and straightforward to use, just select (or drag and drop) the files/folders and set the restrictions using checkboxes. The interface can be password protected to prevent tempering with your settings.

Proteg allows you to convert a standard portable USB storage device (or USB flash disk) into a security token, that can be used to securely access your PC. After installation you are prompted for a USB drive and can then select a user account that you want to protect. To access your PC with that account, you will need the created USB key, as well as an additional password - you will always need both, the USB key and the password. This method of login adds additional security and can also counter password keyloggers, as the password alone is useless, even if captured, unless the associated USB drive is present. The program is license for one computer with unlimited user accounts.

SpyLock Professional is a secure desktop lockdown system and activity monitor that allows you to quickly and securely lock your PC down while you are away. SpyLock introduces security administration features, allowing you to quickly set security access rights to your Windows PC. These access rights configurations include: disable boot keys, disable desktop, disable taskbar, disable escape sequences (CTRL+ALT+DEL etc.) as well as many additional restrictions for Internet Explorer and general Windows. Also included is a feature that allows you to start monitoring and logging PC activity automatically, as soon as your computer has been on idle for a specified time.

DesktopKeeper offers a unique way to protect your desktop and keep track of any attempts to use your computer. The locked computer appears to be as usual and unprotected. But if a user attempts to click on an icon or uses the keyboard, he will be locked out and prompted for a password, or to leave a message. In addition DesktopKeeper will log every attempted action and keystroke. The program also includes various other features; a virtual desktop manager option to save/restore your desktop icons; an automatic wallpaper changer, a windows manager and more. You can also use DesktopKeeper to take snapshots of your desktop and email, save or print them.

Transparent Screen Lock allows you to password protect your workstation or server with a Transparent Screen Lock leaving the screen visible so that running programs can be monitored but the computer cannot be accessed without the proper login credentials. The program is ideal for print servers, information kiosks, retail stores, where on-screen content needs to be displayed, but unauthorized access to the desktop needs to be disabled. Transparent Screen Lock can also track activity and failed login attempts and save the log file locally or to a remote network location. Additional features include disabling of shutdown, logoff, password changes and Task and automatic locking whenever the screensaver becomes active.

Deskman enables you to restrict access to your desktop, system settings and drives. You can hide drives, disable keyboard commands, hide items from the Start menu, block new auto-run programs, secure your desktop, set Internet Explorer restrictions and more. Other features include a web interface for remote management and support for custom security profiles and user exceptions.

Lock Folder XP lets you hide selected files, folders and drives and protect them with your personal password. Just drag your file, folder or drive onto the interface, or select them from the dialog to activate protection. Once protected, the items are no longer visible and can only be unlocked from the password protected interface. Even if a virus gets introduced to your system, your locked folders cannot be detected, infected or harmed. Lock Folder XP uses U>S Government encryption standards.

Hide Folders enables you to restrict access to files and folders on your computer by hiding and password protecting the content of selected folders. You can choose to simply hide the folders from view, leave them visible but lock them, or completely hide and encrypt the content for additional protection. Other features include secure wiping of usage tracks, automatic activation of folder protection, optional shell integration and more.

Host Security Personal (HSP) allows you to restrict access to folders, files, or entire drives. You can also block the use of external drives, including USB drives, so that files cannot be transferred from or to your computer without the proper password. The program also includes some basic firewall features that allow you to limit access to/from the network (by IP address) and to disable or restrict Internet access. You can chose to leave blocked items visible, hide them completely, or use read-only protection (files can be viewed but not changed). The program can also block MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ and AOL Instant Messenger.

Mouse Trap is a tool to prevent access to your desktop by locking the mouse into place until you enter the correct password. It can optionally display a black privacy screen and also lock/unlock the desktop automatically at user specified times. Additional options include automatic locking at startup, custom lock message, logging of invalid password attempts, locking on idle and more.

ComputerTime enables parents to set limits on the amount of time and the time-of-day when their children can use the computer. Whenever the computer is used, the user must log on with a password, and the limitations that are set for his/her account become active. You can set different limitations for each user, and also generate a list of codes (tokens) that can be given to a user to temporarily extend usage time. The user has also the option to pause time tracking by logging off or switching to Away mode. ComputerTime offers flexible limitation options, based on regular schedules, as well as daily limitations and weekend exceptions. The software provides no control over what your children are doing on the computer, the assigned computer time can be used any way they want, and does not limit or prevent Internet access.

Lock My PC is an easy to use application that locks your computer when you click the tray icon. It shows a locked screen (you can use a custom image) and disables Windows hot keys and mouse. In addition, the program can log any unauthorized password-entry attempts and there is also an option to keep your PC locked during a power failure or if a stranger switches it off and on.

Free Hide Folder enables you to hide personal folders from prying eyes or unauthorized access. Once hidden the folders are no longer visible from within Windows Explorer. You can select one or more folders and toggle their hide/show status from the password protected interface. An integrated backup options enables you to backup your folder settings (not the data) to a file.

IM Lock enables you to block instant messengers, web browsers, internet phones, file sharing and streaming media. It offers specific support for Skype, iTunes, AOL AIM, MSN Messenger, ICQ, Google Talk and other products. In addition to complete blocking you can also exclude specific web sites from Internet Explorer restrictions, so that the user can only access those selected sites.

Folder Security Personal allows you to hide and lock folders and files. You can choose to hide them completely or restrict access by making them read-only ,thereby preventing modification or deletion by other users or programs. The program can also lock local hard disks as well as Floppy drives, CDrom drives and removable disks and supports FAT/FAT32/NTFS. Additional features include support for special folders (My Documents, Send To etc.) and password protected interface. In addition, the program includes features to repair and prevent malicious changes to Internet Explorer.

Program Lock Pro allows you to securely lock and unlock any program on your PC, thereby restricting internet usage or usage of any other applications. You can also choose your own message to display if anyone attempts to run one of your locked programs. The main program is password protected as well, so only you can unlock the program when you are ready to use it. Program Lock Pro does not interfere with regular usage of your computer, only with the programsthat are protected.

WinBounds enables parents to child-proof their PC by restricting access to programs that are accessible from the desktop. It completely removes the Start button, as well as system tray icons and the right-click menu and prevents access to Windows Explorer, Control Panel and other system folders. Furthermore you can also block specific Windows based on their title. WinBounds can be enabled from the system tray as needed, and disabled via a keyboard shortcut.

ActiveScreenLock lets you lock your computer on-demand by placing a password-protected window on top of all the others. The screen can be transparent, so that you can monitor running processes, or you can customize it with a background image or image slideshow. To access the desktop, this screen must be first unlocked with the proper password. The program disables the TaskManager, as well as other common combinations that could usually be used to bypass a window (Alt+F4, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Alt+Tab etc.). The lock can be quickly activated from the tray or it can be set to activate automatically after a certain time of inactivity. Additional features include logging of access attempts, clock display on the lock screen and log file encryption.

DoNotDisturb is a unique program that can help you to enforce self-discipline by allowing you to temporarily disable access to selected programs and websites with the click of a button. It is based on the idea that you are trying to force yourself to get work done, rather than slacking off by playing games or visiting websites during times where you should be more productive. The selected programs or sites can be disabled for a user defined time, and the block can only be bypassed by manually entering a 64 digit random code. If you lack the self-discipline to get your work done, this software may be able to help you - unless of course your desire to slack is so strong that you don`t mind the inconvenience of entering the magic code... The trial version does not expire, but does not support blocking of websites or browsers.

Mouse Tutor is a simple utility that is designed to prevent accidental right-click menus from appearing by turning all mouse clicks into left clicks, regardless of which button was pressed. It is designed to be used with young kids, preventing them from accidentally triggering dialogs or other actions that are available from the right-click menu. Mouse Tutor runs in the system tray and once activated, it will turn any click into a left-click, allowing your child to click their way through websites without having to worry about them getting stuck in a cascade of Windows dialogs.
