Notes and Reminders

NotesHolder is a handy notes bar that hides along the side or top of your desktop and lets you quickly type in any piece of information. Move your mouse cursor to the edge of the screen, the list of the notes will pop up. Click once to create a new note or to edit an existing one, print or delete it. New notes are automatically stamped with the current time and you can search through all your notes by keyword. You can also organize your notes in multiple tabs, export them to XML and more. NotesHolder is easy to use and a good alternative for sticky notes.

GigAlarm allows you set one-time or recurring reminders. Once set, an alarm can be set to auto-repeat on set days or by a time offset. The alarm can be either a wave file playing (random or selected), a program/file running (also random or selected), changing the background wallpaper, a window or various Windows shut down options. It has various other options including search, snooze control, variable alarm cut off, repeating sounds, boot up alarms, countdown, variable pause, variable alarm warning, missed alarm notification, and more.

VIP Simple To Do List enables you to maintain a ToDo list for your personal or business tasks. It supports custom categories and task reminders by sound or email. OutNote is a unique Outlook add-in that enables you to attach notes to your Outlook emails and contacts. It fully integrates with Outlook, and to create a note, simply right-click any email or contact in Outlook, and select the `Create Note` item from the right-click menu. Whenever you select a message that has a note associated with it, the program will inform you from the system tray, or optionally pop up the note immediately. The program supports the Outlook colored flags and can automatically assign a flag of your choice to any message that contains a note. You can also attach files to a note, and manage them from a notes manager interface. A great productivity booster for heavy email users.

TimeLeft is a multi-functional utility that acts as a clock, reminder, alarm clock, countdown, stopwatch and time synchronization tool. It uses WinAmp skins, which allows you to fully customize the display to your preference. The customizable countdown allows you to be reminded of forthcoming events and at the same day keep track of days, minutes and seconds as the countdown elapses. You can configure the reminder to alarm you at a specific or periodically for recurring events and launch a message box (also customizable), a sound and optionally an application or web site URL. The additional time synchronization feature can check and set your time automatically or whenever needed. This version is free and will not expire, however time sync is limited and you can only use one reminder.

Exstora Pro is a simple program to organize personal notes and reminders. You can organize notes into categories, set up recurring reminder alarms and daily events and also keep track of your favorite RSS feeds, all from the same interface. The program supports calendar import/export via iCal files and offers optional password protection for selected notes. The scheduling options include simple recurring reminders, as well as more advanced options like every X day of the month, every other Friday, last Monday of the month, last day of the month etc. The program comes with a simple but practical interface and is easy to use. It doesn`t look like much, but actually offers a fairly flexible set of features, and new reminders can be created very quickly. Runs in the system tray.

Alarm Master is a simple scheduler and alarm timer that can remind you of your upcoming events. It can play sound alerts (mp3, wav), show an alert dialog and execute programs or documents via command-line. The program supports one-time and recurring reminders for weekly, monthly and yearly alarms. Other features include a choice of interface skins, and a simple countdown timer.

TurboNote+ is a handy little program that lets you "stick" notes to your screen and also send them to others on your network or via email. You can use them for reminders, messages, to-do lists, Web and email addresses. You can change note colors and sizes, have them ring alarms, print them, lock them and keep your screen uncluttered by hiding them, using a keyboard shortcut. Notes even stay around when you turn your computer off, and are automatically backed up. The Quick Launch feature also lets you open Web addresses, programs and files which appear in notes, simply by double-clicking on them. Cute Reminder allows you to quickly mark down notes and ideas and set reminders for upcoming events. It runs as a desktop toolbar that hides itself on the side of your desktop (until you hover the mouse over it) and allows you to write down a note or idea with just a click of your mouse. The notes can be kept as desktop stickies and have different colors, which can be customized to your preference. The control center allows you to manage all of your entries and also keeps track of your history. Additional features include support for audio files, web links, recurring reminders and more.

Talking Reminder keeps track of your important events and reminds you about them using optional speech, sound, alert window, email notification, or file execution. The program is easy to use and offers various pre-defined styles, including birthday reminders that can automatically remind you of buying a present several days before the actual event. Each event type has an icon associated with it, making it easy to distinguish them at a glance. To reschedule events, you can simply drag the event icon to another day on the calendar. Additional features include recurring events, skin interface, event preview and search options.

NoteScraps is a personal notes manager that uses a virtual pinboard concept to keep track of your notes. You can simply type a new note and it will be added to the pinboard. The program also provides a simple keyword search function as well as 5 different colors to choose from to highlight notes. Overall, the program will not help you much with getting organized, as it (nicely) simulates the same clutter effect that you would see on a real pinboard. If you prefer this approach, give it a try, however if you are looking for a way to eliminate clutter, looks elsewhere.

CalendarPal is a personal desktop calendar and organizer that allows you to keep track of daily tasks, to-do items and more. The calendar also displays the current weather conditions for your area (via Weather Channel) and integrates a 10-day forecast into the daily display. Other features include support for one-time and recurring reminders, severe weather alerts, and a desklet that can display daily notes and weather info on your desktop.

Anniversaries Reminder is an easy-to-use birthday and anniversary reminder that can alert you of upcoming events in advance. You can create single event entries or recurring reminders, and set an importance level for each entry. Other features include Zodiac signs calculation for birthdays, a backup option and database synchronization with other computers, as well as customizable interface color schemes.

Handy Stickers is a simple tool that enables you to create virtual sticky notes that can be kept on your desktop or hidden along the edge of your screen. The program includes simple notes as well as reminder notes that can alert you at a set date and time. You can choose between 4 different colors for each sticky note and quickly create a new note by simply double-clicking on the tray icon.

Aeris Calendar is a desktop calendar display with integrated weather information, forecasts and severe weather alerts (provided by weather.com). It allows you to add single event or recurring reminders, and add a small note to any date. You can also customize the list of common events and holidays and maintain a ToDo list. Aeris Calendar runs in the system tray from where it displays the current temperature for your selected zip code, and also includes a small desktop display for current weather conditions.
