WallCooler is a VPN (Virtual Private Network) solution that enables you to access your home computer from anywhere, using a secure Internet connection. Once you have installed WallCooler on both computers (local and remote), you can access all your files, emails, applications and network resources while you are on the road or in the office. You can also access any locally shared files or network drives directly, so there no need to maintain synchronized copies of your documents. The program connects to remote resources or servers by DNS/Netbios name or IP address without the need to configure your router or firewall, or to have a static IP address. WallCooler uses industry standard SSL encryption and authentication to protect your VPN connection and utilizes compression for fast throughput. Requires you to create a free account before the service can be used. Monthly rates are also available. Note: WallCooler VPN uses Windows Remote Desktop for it`s remote control features, which is usually not available with XP/Vista HOME editions. You would need to install additional remote control software (e.g VNC) to enable this functionality.

In order to receive the message, the user must have the desktop client running, which you can configure and distribute. The news messages can be very easily designed and sent from a visual interface, that requires no technical knowledge. The program includes a web server, however it can be used with any existing web server, without the need to install anything. Unfortunately Internet NewsWire only offers poor documentation and support for distribution of the client, so while it works nicely, it can be a problem to distribute, unless you want to compile your own installer, write documentation etc. or only use it in a limited environment.
