Defraggler
Defraggler is a file and folder defragmenter that enables you to defragment selected drives, and/or only selected files and folders. After initial analysis, it displays a list of file fragments, as well as their location on the disk map and allows you to choose the file to include in the defragmentation process.
Auslogics Disk Defrag
Auslogics Disk Defrag is a disk defragmentation tool that supports FAT 16, FAT 32, and NTFS volumes. Other than being a little faster and more user friendly, the program does not appear to have any significant advantages over the standard Windows defragmenter.
Auslogics Registry Defrag
WinContig
WinContig is a standalone file defragmenter that allows you to defragment specific files or folders, without the need to defrag the entire drive. You can create multiple groups of folders and files and load them as needed. WinContig`s defragmentation and analysis engine is based on the standard Microsoft defragmentation API.
SpeeDefrag
SpeeDefrag is a simple program, that restarts your computer and runs defrag.exe with optimized windows settings before loading your desktop, which allows for faster and more thorough defragmentation. Once the defrag process has finished, it can optionally shut down your PC, otherwise reboot it.
IObit SmartDefrag
IObit SmartDefrag is an automatic disk defragmenter that keeps your hard drive space from becoming overly defragemented, which can cause slower disk performance. It works continuously in the background and does not require further user intervention for basic maintenance. The program also includes a manual defrag option as well as support for scheduled (full system) defragmentations and a choice of either Express or Comprehensive techniques.
JkDefrag
JkDefrag is a disk defragmenter that can be run in as-needed or automatic mode via command-line parameters or screensaver integration. By default, the program uses a Fast Optimization, designed for everyday use, but it also supports custom parameters that can move files to the end (or beginning) of the disk, sort them by name, size and other criteria. Even though JkDefrag can be run with a standard Windows GUI, most of it`s strong features are aimed at users that are familiar with command-line usage.
Free Registry Defrag
UltraDefrag
UltraDefrag is an Open Source disk defragmentation tool that offers fast defragmenting, using a kernel based driver. It offers a simple GUI with a cluster map display, as well as a command-line interface and scheduling option. The program supports full defragmentation and space defragmentation (compacting), and allows you to include/exclude files or folders based on their name or size. Other features include HTML reports and boot time defragmentation.
Fast Defrag Standard
Fast Defrag is a tool that can free and optimize RAM and the swap-file usage. It displays current memory usage and statistics and can also be run from the command line (useful for automation). Fast Defrag cleans only the memory that was filled by previous loaded applications and does not remove Windows components or active programs from memory. The program also includes access to system configuration, running processes, startup programs (msconfig.exe) and more.
PageDefrag
One of the limitations of the Windows NT/2000 defragmentation interface is that it is not possible to defragment files that are open for exclusive access. Thus, standard defragmentation programs can neither show you how fragmented your paging files or Registry hives are, nor defragment them. Paging and Registry file fragmentation can be one of the leading causes of performance degradation related to file fragmentation in a system. PageDefrag uses advanced techniques to provide you what commercial defragmenters cannot: the ability for you to see how fragmented your paging files and Registry hives are, and to defragment them. In addition, it defragments event log files and Windows 2000 hibernation files (where system memory is saved when you hibernate a laptop).
AutoDeFrag
AutoDeFrag is a launcher for the standard defragmenter built into Windows 2000. The standard defragmenter does not support the ability to be scheduled, and therefore must be manually launched when required, once for each fixed disk in your system. AutoDeFrag works around this limitation and allows the Windows 2000 Task Scheduler to be used to schedule the defragmenter. By default, lunching AutoDefrag will defragment all drives, however you can specify in the command line, if you only want a selected drive defragmented. Very simple tool, but a great aid in maintaining performance.
