Notepad2 is a small and fast editor with syntax highlighting for HTML and other common languages and many other useful features, including drag and drop, regular expression search and replace, brace matching, line numbers, keyboard shortcuts, whitespace display, zooming and more. Notepad2 offers support for Unicode, UTF-8, Unix and Mac text files.

GetDiz is a small viewer for .DIZ and .NFO files. Many downloadable ZIP archives have DIZ and NFO files included within them. They are simple text files that can be viewed with Notepad, but GetDiz is a text-viewer especially designed for those files, it can be automatically launched whenever you click on a .diz or .nfo file.

Programmers File Editor (PFE) is a large-capacity, multi-file editor. Although it`s primarily oriented towards program developers and contains features like the ability to run compilers and development applications, it also makes a very good general purpose editor, that works well with extremely large files - it can open and edit a 1 GB log file without problems. This is an old software (no longer in development), but it still works like a charm.

It also comes with a built-in hex editor, difference viewer, spell-checker, integrated browser preview, clipboard viewer and more. Additional features include quick access to commonly used form and HTML tags, search and replace, open from FTP server, visual HTML editing mode and more. CPad supports plug-ins, so the functionality can be easily extended.

Xint is an alternative to Windows notepad, that looks very similar, but in fact offers dozens of additional features. They include additional formatting options (URL encoding, CSV conversion, HTML stripping, A-Z sorting), as well as browser preview, word count, case conversions and more. Xint also includes an enhanced search and replace features, a hex color picker, date insert and more. NotePad SX is a notepad replacement text editor that offers a tabbed interface and a variety of text processing functions. ZuluPad is a notepad-type editor that combines simple notes management with a desktop wiki concept that allows you to link words to additional content within the same zulu file. To link a word, you can simply highlight it and click the Link button in the toolbar to open a new page within the document where you can enter any information related to the linked word (definitions, contact details etc.). Once you have linked a word within a zulu file, the same word will automatically be cross-referenced on any pother page in the same document. A zulu file can have unlimited pages and links, and everything is contained within a sigle file. The actual text editing features are very basic though, ZuluPad does not support text formatting, font settings and many other features usually found in text editors.

MoonEdit enables cooperative multi-user text editing over the Internet or LAN. The program is basically a text editor that enables you to host a file for editing, and other users (also using MoonEdit) can connect to the file and edit the file with you. Each user is listed in the status bar and is assigned a distinctive color that highlights the segments that were edited by him. All cursor movements and text changes are simultaneously visible on the screen by all users. MoonEdit allows you to share individual files, or entire directories.
