FTP Programs

FileZilla is powerful Open Source FTP/SFTP client with many features. It includes a site manager to store all your connection details and logins as well as an Explorer style interface that shows the local and remote folders and can be customized independently. The program offers support for firewalls and proxy connections as well as SSL and Kerberos GSS security. Additional features include keep alive, auto ascii/binary transfer, download queue, manual transfers, raw FTP commands and more. A nice program for beginners and advanced user alike.

A powerful multithreading FTP client with some cool features: Multiple connections to ftp server, Downloading while browsing another ftp server, Resuming of incomplete transfers, Transfer of entire directory treesd. Integrated ZIP and RAR archive testing of downloaded files. Other features: Drag & Drop Support, Queue Timer for performing unattended transfers, URL support and more. LeechFTP is not being developed any further, so there wil be no support, fixes etc.

EFTP (Encrypted File Transfer Protocol) is a client/server application, that offers the same functionality as standard FTP, but with encryption. It uses a combination of Public Key encryption and Symmetric Key encryption to allow fast and secure transfers over any TCP/IP network, including the Internet. EFTP offers an easy to use graphical interface with user management, user groups, group administration and more. The server can be run as a strictly encrypted server, or like a regular FTP server that allows connections from standard FTP clients as well. A small, standalone client is included with the download, that can be used to initiate a secure connection to EFTP obtain the most secure level of data transfer. EFTP also includes several advanced features like IP restrictions, logging, banned user list and more.

Core FTP LE is a full featured FTP client with SSL/TLS support, queuing, sessions, remote file searching, resume of transfers, bandwidth control, recursive deleting and much more. It offers a simple interface, similar to the traditional WS_FTP interface, as well as different view layouts to choose from. A built-in site manager lets you save your favorite sites for quick access and also specify custom connection details for each (passive, keep alive, buffer size etc.). Additional features include browser integration, HTTP/FTP proxy support, Socks 4/5, SSH, SSL,SSH/SFTP support and more. Easy to use interface and fast loading file listings.

WinSCP is freeware SCP (Secure CoPy) client, using SSH (Secure SHell). Its main purpose is safe copying files between local and remote computer. Beyond this basic function, WinSCP manages some other actions with files. WinSCP interface is based on Norton Commander. A local folder is displayed in the left panel and a remote folder in the right panel. Appearance of the file list is the same as it is in Windows Explorer using detailed view. WinSCP can do all basic operations with files, such as copying, moving, rename and more. WinSCP is also SFTP and FTP client.

FTP Wanderer is multi-threaded FTP browser, that allows you to browse and upload and download files from and to FTP sites. It features drag and drop upload/download, folder transfers, simultaneous connections, CERN proxy support, remote folder bookmarks, and resume support. The program is easy to use with an Explorer-style interface. FTP Wanderer is primarily designed for fast FTP browsing of file sites, and not for web site management. Standalone program, no install needed.

SendTo FTP allows you to upload files from the Windows Explorer right-click menu. It allows you to maintain multiple profiles and quickly send a selected file to the remote FTP server without having to launch your FTP program first. It supports passive transfers, firewall settings, configurable ascii and binary settings and more. A very useful tool for webmasters that want to quickly upload one or more files.

ExpressFTP is a small and easy to use FTP program that offers a Windows Explorer-like interface and several handy features like recursive folder deletion, recursive uploads, folder creation and more. It is mostly designed for file uploads and downloads and does not provide options to set permision on the remote files. For what it does, however it is fast, easy to use and requires no instalation.

FreeFTP is a simple FTP client with support for drag and drop. It supports all the standard FTP functions, as well as clipboard monitoring (for FTP URLs), file filters and more.

Web Site Publisher is a FTP tool designed specifically to publish and manage web sites. It keeps track of the files that have changed on your local computer and automatically uploads them to the FTP server when you run the synchronization. In addition, it can also delete files on the remote server that do no longer exist on your local drive. The program is easy to use and comes with a step-by-step wizard; it can support multiple websites, each with individual connection settings. Good for basic file synchronization.

CoffeeCup Free FTP is an easy to use Drag and Drop FTP program. that lets you store multiple server profiles and connect to any of them with just one click. You can also change Unix permissions on a file (if supported), set local and remote start directories and activate passive mode. Simple an easy to use FTP client with basic features.

RightFTP is an easy to use, yet feature-rich FTP tool , that includes features like firewall support, multithreaded data transfer, ability to change file attributes and session logging and more. A unique queue-based engine enables you to send FTP commands without having to wait for the server response. The Explorer-like interface of the program is very user-friendly and allows you to simply drag-and-drop files/folders and connect to FTP sites with a few mouse clicks. Additional features include a site profile manager, remote editing and more.

FTP Shortcut is a small and simple utility to make FTP Shortcuts easier to create and modify. It uses the standard FTP functionality that comes built into Windows to open FTP sites in a regular Windows Explorer view. You can create a shortcut to a site and store the login information with it (encrypted), allowing you to quickly access an FTP site from your familiar Windows interface, without the need for additional FTP software. The standard Windows file management features are available.

BOB is an FTP batch upload application. It is a useful tool if you need to upload the same files to one or multiple servers all the time. With Bob, you can set it up once and then upload them with the click of a button. Simple interface, easy to use.

FireFTP is a full-featured FTP client that installs as an extension and integrates with your Firefox browser. It offers all the standard FTP features, supports multiple FTP account, passive transfers, directory synchronization and more. FireFTP is handy for occasional use, but we found it to be a little slow for serious uploads and downloads.

RightLoad is a small FTP uploader that integrates into the Windows Explorer and allows you to upload selected files to an FTP server via the right-click menu. It supports multiple server configurations and passive mode. The program offers several unique features which include the ability to automatically create thumbnail images (if you are uploading images), automatic directory sort rules, as well as an option to generate BB or HTML tags that link to the uploaded files, so you can simply copy and paste them into your message board post or HTML code.

ShellFTP is a FTP uploader designed specifically for webmasters. It integrates into the Windows Explorer and allows you to upload selected files to an FTP server via the right-click menu. ShellFTP includes the unique ability to automatically upload the files to specific remote paths (folders) based on the file extension (e.g. upload all .jpg files to the /img folder). The program can also generate HTML and BB tags in various styles, that link to the uploaded files, so you can simply copy and paste them into your HTML code, blog or message board post. ShellFTP supports standard FTP, as well as SSL/TLS.

CarbonFTP is a file synchronization tool that enables you to synch local files with a remote FTP server and vice versa. It provides a step-by-step wizard to select the folders to be synchronized, the direction of the synchronization and and option to set file masks to limit the transfer to specific file types. Your settings can be saved as projects, so they can be quickly re-used later.

AtomicRobot FTP is a very basic FTP program. It offers the common FTP functions (upload, download, rename, delete, make dir etc.) from a plain but very easy to use interface. To transfer a file, you can simply doubleclick it. Free for personal use, trial for business use.
