JDVoiceMail
JDVoiceMail is an easy to use application that lets you record and send voice mail messages, using your default email program (Outlook, Outlook Express etc.). It creates compressed .wav files using DSP True Speech, GSM 6.10 or LAME codecs, and can achieve file sizes of about 30kb (using a 30 second message as an example). The receiver does not need to install any software and can listen to the message with Windows Media Player or any other audio player. The interface is straightforward and easy to use with standard playback controls. The audio message can be automatically attached to a new email message or saved to disk. Other features include a customizable subject line and body text, a photo address book, as well a codec selection and recording controls.
Pocket Voice Recorder
Pocket Voice Recorder is a small sound recorder that can record up to 10 minutes of audio from your microphone or any other input line available with your sound card. The recordings are automatically organized as messages and can be exported to standard WAV sound file format.
Audacity
Audacity is a free audio editor. You can record sounds, play sounds, import and export WAV, AIFF, and MP3 files, and more. Use it to edit your sounds using Cut, Copy and Paste (with unlimited Undo), mix tracks together, or apply effects to your recordings. It also has a built-in amplitude envelope editor, a customizable spectrogram mode and a frequency analysis window for audio analysis applications. Built-in effects include Bass Boost, Wahwah, and Noise Removal, and it also supports VST plug-in effects.
MP3 VCR
MP3 VCR allows you to easily record Shoutcast streams and save them as MP3 files on your PC. You can simply drag and drop the stream URL onto the interface to start the recording, and choose to listen to the music while recording, or record in the background. The program supports ICY-compatible title extraction, and can save each song as individual MP3, using the name of the author/title. Additional features include listen-only mode, station presets, scheduled recordings, optional command line interface and more.
SwiffRec
SwiffRec lets you record your voice to a Flash file, that can be played (streamed) in any browser by pressing a Play button. The complete HTML code with the button is created by the program, so all you have to do is insert it into your web page and your visitors can push the button to listen to your recording. SwiffRec is extremely easy to use, and the intuitive interface lets you create and test your recordings with a few button clicks. In addition to direct recording, the program can also use any WAV input and convert it to Flash format.
Messer
Messer (Memo Session Sound Recorder ) is a software for for scheduled sound recording on PC. You can record from your PCs soundcard and output directly to PCM (.wav) or MP3 format. It can automatically stop and start recording at a choosen moment, optionally do simple processing on just recorded file (normalizing, mp3 compression..), then wait for another scheduled "recording session" and finally shut down the computer. Messer can do on-the-fly MP3 encoding.
